A one day workshop was held to Develop and train the Canadian Bhutanese Society Executive and Advisory Board members. It was organized by Alberta Culture on January 26th 2013. All Participants were from Canadian Bhutanese Society’s newly elected Board members. The workshop was facilitated by Lisa Talavia-Spencer Community Development Officer Alberta Culture Community Engagement & Inclusion Branch at Lethbridge.
Among many discussions the workshop re-drafted Mission Statement and a vision statement as follows:-
Draft Mission Statement
The Canadian Bhutanese Society, Lethbridge is a not-for-profit, registered charitable organization that works to preserve and enhance intercultural relationships between Bhutanese and the general community to support integration and ease the transition of resettlement by providing education and recreation programs; settlement support services; and cultural and festival programming in Lethbridge.
Draft Vision Statement
Bhutanese living in Lethbridge have settlement supports to help become an integral part of the community and have a gathering place to preserve, enhance and share our culture and history with others.
All Participants indicated that it was a very compact and informative workshop which enabled us to understand the guidelines and responsibilities of Charitable Organization in Alberta. It shall surely enable us to pave the way for the society’s future to be an inclusive community.
