Canadian Bhutanese Society of Lethbridge Alberta celebrated New Year 2014 and Annual General Assembly on December 28 2013. The gathering was organized on the last weekend of the year so that everyone could participate in it. It was one of the biggest gathering of the Bhutanese community to celebrate the annual event. The celebration comprised of Cultural dances, songs, comedy etc.. The Youth club also organized a fund raising program during the event.
CBS as in previous years presented the annual report of the year 2013 on a power-point slides show to the assembly. The highlight of the report was to mainly welcome the new arrival in our community, welcome also the newborn babies of the year, various achievement achieved through out the year and the annual financial report. This year unlike earlier years there was no need for election of new Board as the last year board’s tenure was appointed for two years, which expires at the end of the year 2014. However Dipak Gurung Cultural co-coordinator have tendered his resignation due to his other commitments coming up in the new year, Therefore as recommended by the Youth Club Sapana Timsina was appointed as Cultural Coordinator. The General Assembly unanimously approved her appointment for the rest of the tenure as proposed by Purna Nanda Adhikari on behalf of the Advisory Board.
On behalf of the Organization Hemlal Timsina, thanked all the volunteers who worked hard to make this event a safe and smooth one. He also expressed his happiness more so this year, unlike the previous years, most of the responsibilities was taken over by Youth club which was formally launched on December 2013. They shouldered all the preparation and necessary task to make the event successful. Big thank you to all the Youth Club members especially to Santosh, Robin, Sapana, Munu, Sha Subba , without whom it would not be possible.
